Why it would be useful:
Simulating damage on spaceships,simulating running lights and fires and loads of shit that makes spaceships looks good when they are damaged.

    Sounds cool. Only problem for me on this is the lighting. Dynamic lighting is extremely expensive on PC's for Source.. For.. some reason.

    Your frames will continue to drop substantially the more lights are active.

    A major issue with DLights and GMOD is that they work best when pre-calculated for a map.

    Then how about having it as an option enabled by default but if they lag for you have a utilities option to disable them,you wont see the cool effects but it shouldn't impact playability even if a ship is overloaded with them

    Well then you would have to stop spawning... anything...

    They could just be replaced with less lights and some sprites and still look fine I am sure. @work so I can;t actually look at the link.
